Oxymethylenepolymers or copolymers are acetylated with acetic anhydride at 115-135 DEG C. in the presence of an inert organic solvent, the boiling-point of which is below the boiling-point of acetic anhydride. Specified solvents are acetone, methylethyl ketone, ethyl acetate butyl acetate and dipropyl ether. An acetylation catalyst such as sodium acetate may be added. |
