<p>A composition and procedures for its formation and administration are described, which provide for a convenient, efficacious and simple transdermal administration of medications from a topically applied cream. No transmission through a membrane is involved. The composition incorporates at least two separate penetration enhancers which function synergistically to provide for rapid but controllable transport of the medication from the cream into the skin. The use of a plurality of penetration enhancers, at least one of which facilitates the separation of medication from the cream and at least a second of which alters the structure of the outer layers of skin, particularly the stratum corneum, enhances migration of the drug through the stratum corneum.</p> |
