PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject reel, equipped with a multi-plate type drag mechanism providing friction-induced clamping force, which is used to transmit rotational movement of its handle, and adjusted in strength by rotating the drag knob. SOLUTION: This reel is equipped with a slide shaft 91, handle 1 and drag mechanism 3, wherein a slide-handling section is positioned near the hand which grips the handle 1, and the drag mechanism 3 is pressed by a pressing body which can slide together with the slide shaft 91. When a spool is rotated for letting out the fishing line, drug by a fish caught, at a drag force exceeding the initial set point, the spool rotation can be temporarily stopped by operating the slide-handling section to increase the drag force and, at the same time, pressing the drag mechanism 3 by the pressing body. When the slide-handling section is returned back to the release position, the stoppage is released.
