PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus in a body cavity by which the manifacturing cost can be reduced and a stable and good ultrasonic image can be obtd. SOLUTION: An ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus 10 in a body cavity is provided with a length controlling mechanism 42 for controlling the length of a flexible shaft when it is assembled in a base end side connector 18 of the flexible shaft for transmitting a rotating force necessary for obtaining an ultrasonic image. It is possible thereby to easily hold a natural length and to surely transmit a rotating force only by controlling the flexible shaft in accordance with difference in its individual body when it is assembled even when there exist the differences in the individual body in lengths of an inserting part 11 and a universal cord 17. Therefore, a stable and good ultrasonic image can be always obtd. and decrease in the manufacturing cost can be attempted as it is unnecessary to prepare the length of the flexible shaft in cope with the above described difference in the individual body.
