Lightweight elements (3) are secured to the top side of a concrete slab (2, 2). A concrete floor element (1, 1) comprises a concrete slab with sufficient thickness to allow it to withstand strong loads, and having lightweight elements secured to its top side. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a method of constructing a floor in a building using these floor elements; (b) a building containing such a floor; and (c) a method of making the floor elements, by casting concrete in a mould and laying the lightweight elements on top of the concrete before it has set.
