PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the contact resistance between a hard film and an MR (magnetoresistance) element and that between the hard film and a nonmagnetic conductor layer for preventing generation of heat. SOLUTION: A nonmagnetic conductor film 12 is disposed on an amorphous soft magnetic material film 11 as a spacer, and an MR element 13 comprising a magnetoresistance film of a ferromagnetic material is disposed on the nonmagnetic conductor film 12. Ions are doped by ion implantation into regions of the magnetoresistance film of the resultant laminated body on which terminal electrodes are to be provided and a metallic film is formed on the ion doped regions of the thin magnetoresistance film.
