PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical apparatus having a line-of-sight(LOS) detection function which enables the unconscious execution of 'calibration' in a state that an observer attains the same posture as the posture at the time of actual use without forcing unnatural calibration manipulation and enables the execution of good LOS detection. SOLUTION: This device has an LOS information calculating means which detects an eyeball rotating angle from the eyeball images of the observer observing the observation region and calculates the observer's LOS information in accordance with the detected eyeball rotating angle and the stored intrinsic LOS correction information on the observer. The device has the LOS detecting function to execute the prescribed device operations (for example, the focus detection operation of a camera) respectively in accordance with the LOS set information set according to the LOS information and the manual set information (for example, selection information of focus detecting regions 200 to 204) set according to the observer's manual manipulation. In such a case, the LOS correction information is acquired in accordance with the detected eyeball rotating angle and is stored into the LOS information calculating means when the manual set information is displayed within the observation region. |
