PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select a channel whose viewing is possible. SOLUTION: The receiver is provided with a rank discrimination section 3 that discriminates whether viewing of a channel received by a reception circuit section 1 is inhibited or permitted by collating view limit data extracted from an output of the reception circuit section 1 receiving a television broadcast with rank data stored in a memory 4, a reception control section 8 that detects a channel group whose viewing is discriminated by the rank discrimination section 3 by sequentially changing a channel received by the reception circuit section 1, and a display signal circuit 7 that outputs a display signal denoting the channel group whose viewing is possible detected by the reception control section 8.
