PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle motor which can optimize the structure of a frame and the size of a ball bearing and also realize the rise in the vibration resisting performance. SOLUTION: In a spindle motor 1 which drives a 2.5-inch recording disk, a maximum thickness t1 of the section opposed to an armature 12 is suppressed out of the bottom part 218 of a frame 21, so as to give shock-absorbing performance to it. Together with it, the thickness of the cylinder 217 to retain ball bearings 5 and 6 is thinned, whereby it is made possible to use ball bearings of large diameter high in shock resistance as ball bearings 5 and 6. |
