PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily detect the corrosion damage and deterioration on the surface of a easing without requiring the incidental work such as the hoisting of a casing body and draining by judging the degree of the corrosion damage on the outside face of the casing based on the reflected wave obtained by a probe at an optional position on the vertical inside face of the casing. SOLUTION: When flaw detection is made at a measurement position by a probe 9, a surface echo which is a flaw detection wave-form appears high on an ultrasonic flaw detector 10, then a bottom face echo appears, and a second surface echo appears. A thickness value is calculated based on the time difference between the surface echo and the bottom face echo and the sonic velocity in an object to be detected. A computer body 11 is provided with a program for implementing the corrosion damage detecting process, a memory holding various data and a CPU for the arithmetic process to implement the program. The position detection data from an encoder 4 are inputted to the computer body 11. An indicator 12 for displaying data, a memory device 13 for storing data and an input device 14 are connected to the computer body 11. |
