PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a net for absorbing an impact and an impact absorbing method, by which the damping efficiency of impact energy is improved remarkably and which is suitable for receiving large impact energy. SOLUTION: The net for absorbing the impact is constituted by mutually engaging a plurality of sliding-ring single bodies 10. The sliding-ring single bodies 10 are composed of rope materials 20 formed in a loop shape and cushioning grippers 30 gripped at the crossed sections of the rope materials 20. Overlong sections 21, 21 permitting the sliding of the rope materials 20 are formed on both sides of the rope materials 20 extended from the cushioning grippers 30, impact energy is dispersed and transmitted to all sliding-ring single bodies 10, and impact energy is damped by the composite working of damping working by the deformation of each sliding-ring single body 10 and damping working by sliding frictional resistance among the cushioning grippers 30 of each sliding-ring single body 10 and the rope materials 20.
