PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fire hydrant which is compact and low in height and has compound functions speedy in operation. SOLUTION: This is an underground type fire hydrant which is attachedly provided to an underground buried city water piping, and its opening and closing is carried out through a ball valve type, and a flow-in port 13 is formed on the lower face of its valve casing 11. A flow-out port 14 having an axial center the same as the flow-in port 13 is formed on the upper face of the valve casing 11, and one or more flow-out ports 15 are further formed on the side of the valve casing. A ball-shaped valve element 12 is rotated around a vertical central axis, and has a straight line- shaped passage 16a to communicate with flow entrances 14, 13 and is branched to form a passage 16b to communicate with a side flow-out port 15. The side flow-out port 15 communicates with a fire cap 17, and an upper face flow-out port 14 communicates with the apparatus of an air valve 50 and a measuring device 40 which are provided in a valve casing 11. Since the flow entrances 14, 13 may always communicate irrespective of the rotation of the valve element 12, a hydraulics inspection carried out through measuring apparatus is possible in the upper flow-out port 14 independently of the existance of utilization of a fire warwe, and an air venting action through the air valve is always possible.
