PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diagonal member joining plate in a building, that can be easily installed and removed and that enables a reduction in working hours. SOLUTION: A first engagement groove 14 is bored in the upper surface of a sill 21 at a position near the connection between the sill 21 and a column 22 which form a frame, and a second engagement groove 16 is bored in the inner surface of the column 22. A diagonal member joining plate 11 comprises a plate main body 12, a first engagement projection 13 and a second engagement projection 15 and is fitted into a corner of the frame by fitting the first engagement projection 13 into the first engagement groove 14 and the second engagement projection 15 into the second engagement groove 16. A brace 24 is disposed to extend in the direction of the diagonal of the frame, the ends of the brace 24 being joined to the corners of the frame via the diagonal member joining plates 11. The respective inclined faces 13a, 14a of the first engagement projection 13 and the first engagement groove 14 restrain loosening of the column 12 and the diagonal member joining plate 11 from the sill 21.
