PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a modified silk capable of being modified in good reproducibility, having excellent anti-thrombogenicity and bone bonding properties useful for medical application, etc., by introducing an unsaturated group to a silk material and subjecting a specific vinyl compound to a graft polymerization onto the silk material. SOLUTION: A silk material is reacted with an unsaturated compound such as methacryloyloxyethyl isocyanate containing an isocyanate group to be reacted with silk to introduce an unsaturated group to the silk material. The amount of the unsaturated group introduced at a point of the reaction starting is controlled. The unsaturated group bonded to the isocyanate group is used as the starting point, a vinyl compound such as methacrylamide, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, methacrylic acid (methyl ester), ethyl methacrylate, methacryloyloxyethyl phosphate, methyl acrylate, vinyl acetate, etc., is subjected to graft polymerization onto the silk material in the presence of azoisobutyronitrile or 2,2'-azobis(2-(2-imidazolin-2-yl)propane) dihydrochloride to give the objective modified silk. |
