PURPOSE: To fully utilize the reliable braking performance in order to enhance safety and stability in traveling of a vehicle even when a driver, whose brake operating power is comparatively weak such as a woman driver or an elderly driver, puts on an emergency brake in connection with a controller for the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: When a brake pedal 21 is operated, detection signals by hydraulic sensor 45a, 45b and a brake SW46 are supplied to an ECU40. The ECU40 conducts a braking situation judgement from both detection values and the duration of the situation in which the detection values are below the prescribed values, based on these detection values. If the result of judgment on the braking situation is regarded as the emergency brake as prescribed in advance, an intake valve 42 is opened, so that the atmospheric air is forcibly supplied to atmospheric chambers 2b, 3b of a booster in order to actuate pistons 4, 5, thereby encouraging the braking power. |
