PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a device using one kind of radiation detector, by judging whether or not each light-receiving element is irradiated with a radiation when data are gathered for correction calculation, and outputting a predetermined constant value as corrected data for elements not irradiated with the radiation according to the judgement in the correction calculation. SOLUTION: In a correction data gathering routine, without loading a conveyor system 1 with any article and with an X-ray generator 2 turned off, signals from respective light-receiving elements in an X-ray detector 3 are taken in and their values are stored as offset data Oi in a memory. Next, with the X-ray generator 2 turned on to irradiate X-rays, output signals from the respective elements in the X-ray detector 3 are taken in, the offset data Oi are subtracted from their values, and the remainders are stored in the memory as sensitivity correction data Si. As for the output of elements judged not to be irradiated with X-rays, substantial correction calculation is not performed and a predetermined constant value K is outputted as corrected data Yi.
