PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound having excellent accelerating actions on the expression of an apolipoprotein (apo) AI gene and useful as a prophylactic and/or a therapeutic agents for a lipid abnormality in blood or arteriosclerotic diseases. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula I [R1 and R2 are each H, a (substituted) lower alkyl, a (substituted) aryl or the like; R3 and R5 to R7 are each H, a (substituted) lower alkyl; R4 is H, a (substituted) lower alkyl, a (substituted) acyl or the like], e.g. N-[N-(D-butyrin-4-yl)-L-alanin-3-yl]-N- methyl-L-aspartic acid. The compound represented by formula I is obtained by isolation according to a usual method for culturing a microorganism capable of producing the compound represented by formula I, e.g. a microorganism belonging to the genus Streptoalloteichus (e.g. Streptoalloteichus sp. PA-48574 strain) using a culture medium composition and culture medium conditions employed for usual fermentation production and separating and collecting the resultant fermentation product. |
