PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a space-saving, low-cost lock mechanism. SOLUTION: The lock section of opening/closing mechanisms used as countermeasures against jams inside paper sheet carrying sectinos is so constructed that a left lock arm 69 and a right lock arm 70 are coupled via a rod 71 of a diameter of about 4 mm, with their center of rotation being aligned with the center axis of the rod 71. Both ends of the rod 71 are bent and seated in grooves cut in the respective left and right lock arms 69 and 70 to connect them together with no play and with sufficient strength.
