PURPOSE: An apparatus for supporting the basic design of switching network is provided to estimate anticipates a subscriber traffic demand about a telephone line, calculate a proper trunk line number, and achieve an accurate demand forecast and accurate design. CONSTITUTION: A method for supporting the basic design of switching network comprises the step of measuring a traffic data, making it as a data base, and generating a basic design data by a statistic processing; Based on the traffic data, calculating originating/terminating traffic rate and a traffic between stations of a prior switching network, and estimates a point-to-point traffic; adding a design year network plan data and traffic demand/forecast data, and generates a design application data; designing a switching network on the basis of a design application data, a design basic data, and a point-to-point traffic demand forecast data; Finally, outputting a design result.
