发明名称 METHOD OF DUPLICATING IPC CELL PATH IN ATM EXCHANGE
摘要 PURPOSE: A cell path duplexing apparatus and method of an ATM switching system are provided to continuously execute a service by ports by switching only a defective port and improve a system efficiency by easily replacing and repairing a troubled hardware by implementing an IPC path between a portion for multiplexing and demultiplexing an IPC cell and a portion for generating and assembling the IPC cell as a dual active system. CONSTITUTION: Processors(411¯414) of an operating processor unit(41) and IPC units(311¯314) perform different function. Processors(451¯454) of a standby processor unit(45) and IPC units(351¯354) are maintained in a standby state until they are operated in an operation mode. As far as the IPC units(311¯314) of the operating side, a cell multiplexing/demultiplexing unit(21) of the operating side and the cell multiplexing/demultiplexing unit(25) continuously exchanges existence and nonexistence of connection by using a watch dog timer through a port A/B. In this state, the processors(411¯414) of the standby processor unit 41 are active to be operated, and the processors(451¯454) of teh standby processor unit(45) are in a standby state until switching is requested. A state check flag of the cell multiplexing/demultiplexing unit(21) indicates that ports from TX1¯TX4 and RX1¯RX4 are normal, and a state check flag of the standby cell multiplexing/demultiplexing unit(25) indicates that ports from TX1¯TX4 and RX1¯RX4 are normal. If an error occurs at one port of the TX1¯TX[ and RX1¯RX4 and is incapable of performing a normal communication function with the operating cell multiplexing/demultiplexing unit(21), the IPC and the processor connected to the troubled port are connected to a corresponding port of the standby cell multiplexing/demultiplexing unit(25). When an error occurs by more than a limit value, a corresponding port is repaired by using flag information or flags are compared to give a priority for communication, and then, a troubled hardware is replaced.
