PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce image distortion through the utilization of a prescribed interval of optical sensor array segments and pseudo-pixels. SOLUTION: This multi-segment optical sensor assembly 10 consists of optical sensor array segments, that are laid out linearly and positioned side by side. Each optical sensor array segment includes a linear array 30, consisting of at least one photodetector (photodetectors 29 are arranged so as to be separated by a prescribed interval with each other). The optical sensor array segments are arranged separated in such a way that a distance 42 from a last photodetector 77 on one optical sensor array segment 20 to a 1st photodetector 76 on an adjacent optical sensor array segment 22 is a multiple of a prescribed interval 40 between the photodetectors 29 on the optical sensor array segment. A processor 70 can calculate the value of a pseudo-pixel to be inserted to image data from the multi-segment optical sensor assembly 10. The calculation for obtaining the value of the pseudo-pixel is based on values of the 1st and final photodetectors 76, 77 of adjacent segments. The value of the pseudo pixel emulates a photodetector 35 placed between adjacent optical sensor array segments.
