PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheelchair capable of easily removing a wheel from a frame even through a brake drum part of a friction brake device is mounted on a hub of the wheel. SOLUTION: A hub 14 of a wheel is rotatably supported to an axle 18 connected and supported by a frame. A band 39 of a band brake device 2 7 is mounted closely contactable with a brake drum part 15 mounted on the hub 14. The band 39 is connected to a wire extended from a brake lever mounted on the frame 1 through a link mechanism. The axle 18 is connected and supported demountably along the axial direction of the brake drum part 15 in a state that the hub 14 is supported to the frame 1. The band 39 and a link mechanism are supported by a bracket 28 connected and fixed to the frame 1 side and mounted at the outer peripheral surface side of the brake drum part 15 in such manner that the band 39 can be pressure contacted with an outer peripheral surface of the brake drum part 15.
