CATALYST FOR POLYMER SOLID ELECTROLYTE FUEL CELL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst carrying noble metal grains in a high-dispersion state, having high catalyst activity and having an electrode excellent in a gas diffusion property. SOLUTION: A noble metal is carried on a carrier made of carbon fine powder in this catalyst for a polymer solid electrolyte fuel cell, and the carbon fine powder having fine holes with the diameter of 60 Å or below at the ratio of 20% or below to the whole fine holes is used as the carrier. The oil absorption of dibutyl phthalate(DBP) is set to 200cc/100g or more and less than 495cc/100g, the carbon fine powder with the specific surface area of 300 m2/g or more and less than 1270 m2/g is used as the carrier, thus a polymer solid electrolyte fuel cell with an excellent battery characteristic can be obtained.
