PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve work efficiency and eliminate burn-out of winding by checking the connecting state of short bars from indications and changing the taps through a switch operation. SOLUTION: The transformer tap changer comprises a main contact 25, a short bar state checker 26, a main contact switching and switching state indicator 27 and a switching instructor 28. The main contact 25 and short bar state checker 26 are connected to intermediate taps 1-4 of a transformer 1 through a tap board. The main contact switching and switching state indicator 27 and the switching instructor 28 are connected to intermediate taps 2, 4 as power sources. A short bar hold board 21 is connected on an intermediate tap 2 line which connects the main contact switching and switching state indicator 27 and the switching instructor 28 so that, only when a short bar is connected to the hold board 21, the switching instructor 28 can be energized to enable the switching instructor 28.
