摘要 Use of a DNA sequence encoding 1-deoxy-D-xylulose-5-phosphate synthase (DOXS), and optionally p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) and/or geranylgeranyl-pyrophosphate oxidoreductase (GGPPOR), to produce a plant with increased tocopherol, vitamin K, chlorophyll and/or carotenoid content is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method to produce a plant with increased tocopherol, vitamin K, chlorophyll and/or carotenoid content comprises expressing DNA as above in the plant; (2) a method to transform a plant comprises contacting an expression cassette containing a promoter and a DNA sequence as above to a plant cell, callus tissue, a whole plant or protoplast of a plant cell; (3) a plant with an increased tocopherol, vitamin K, chlorophyll and/or carotenoid content; and (4) a test system based on expression of an expression cassette containing a 2458 or 1863 base pairs (bp) sequence to identify inhibitors of DOXS.
