PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a fired colored lead having an ink-impregnated fired lead body which is excellent in stability with time and mechanical strength, i.e., flexural strength, tensile strength, impact strength and the like while having sufficient color developability and depicted line density. SOLUTION: A method for preparing a fired colored lead comprises subjecting a compounded composition containing at least a body material and an organic excipient to kneading, extrusion molding and then, firing in a non-oxidizing atmosphere to form a first fired lead body having, as the binder, carbons by carbonization of the organic excipient; heating the first fired lead body in an oxidizing atmosphere to remove the carbons as the binder by oxidation to form second fired lead body; filling a perhydropolysilazane-containing fluid in the pores of the second fired lead body; heating the resulting product at 1,200-1,400 deg.C, preferably 1,200-1,300 deg.C in an inert atmosphere such as a nitrogen atmosphere or in an ammonia gas atmosphere to obtain a third fired lead body in which silicon nitride has been formed; and further filling an ink in the pores of the third fired lead body.
