PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical roller mill in which sufficient blow-up flow velocity can be secured even when the amount of hot air flowing into a vessel is reduced. SOLUTION: In a vertical roller mill 1 in which a raw material 3 fed through a feeding pipe 4 is pulverized by a roll part 10 on a pulverizing surface 7a of a table 7, and the pulverized material 5 is turned into a turning air current together with hot air fed from an air feeding pipe 13, and the turning air current rises and is sent to a rotary classifier 11, and after it is classified, the crushed material is conveyed through a conveying pipe 6, the side wall of a vessel 20 has such shape that the cross-sectional area of the vessel inside is decreased as it goes from below to above so that its cylindrical part 20a has a maximum diameter and the upper part of its truncated conic part 20b has a minimum diameter part.
