PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having a correcting circuit to correct the display irregularity that depends on the display pattern of a passive type liquid crystal display device in particular and its driving method. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a correction clock generating circuit 148 which generates correction clocks (CC1 and CC2) to control the effective value of the selection voltage to be supplied to scanning electrodes. The circuit 148 supplies the correction clock pulses to a scanning electrode driving circuit 102 to control the increase and the decrease of the effective value caused by two different factors and the circuit 102 corrects the voltage of the selection voltage to be supplied to the scanning electrodes in accordance with the pulse widths of the correction clock pulses.
