PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automate assembly of a glass electrode. SOLUTION: The glass electrode has a glass supporting tube 7 with a glass responsive film G at a bottom part and filled with an internal liquid 6, an internal electrode 9 connected to a lead wire 10 inserted in a bush 8 of an elastic material and inserted into the supporting tube 7 to be soaked in the internal liquid 6, and a sealing member 12 filled upper than a bush mount position in the supporting tube 7. A fin 15 is integrally provided to an outer circumference of an upper end faced to the bush 8 at the side where the sealing member is filled. Air vent grooves 17 are formed in a longitudinal direction of the supporting tube 7 from a lower end of an outer circumferential face of the bush 8 to a circumferential part of the bush where the fin 15 is provided. In assembling the glass electrode, when the bush 8 is pressed into the supporting tube 7 to insert the internal electrode 9 into the supporting tube 7, the air in the supporting tube 7 held between the internal liquid 6 and the bush 8 passes the air vent grooves 17 at the outer circumferential face of the bush 8, pushes up the fin 15 and escapes to above the supporting tube 7. Therefore, the need of inserting an air vent iron wire into the supporting tube 7 beforehand is eliminated.
