PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with an improved display brightness and with improve color purity especially of red and green colors in a reflective liquid crystal display device using an ECB mode. SOLUTION: A reflective liquid crystal display device 1 is characterized by comprising a transparent electrode and an alignment layer provided on the inside of the one transparent substrate, out of transparent substrates placed opposite to each other holding a liquid crystal layer 2, successively from the one transparent substrate side, a reflective polarizing film 13 made by laminating a translucent scattering layer 11 and a light absorption layer 12 provided on the outside of the one transparent substrate, a transparent electrode and an alignment layer provided on the inside of the other transparent substrate, successively from the other transparent substrate side, and a retardation plate 9 and a polarizing plate 10 provided on the outside of the other transparent substrate, successively from the other transparent substrate side. |
