PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the occurrence of an under-mentioned trouble since the volume of a valve body is increased and it is a factor by which the increase of the number of processing processes is caused because of a space for an exclusive use for a subvalve to effect opening and closing drive of a main valve in an on - off valve and a communication port being needed by the valve body. SOLUTION: This on - off valve for a refrigerating cycle device is worked to open and close the hole 1g of a valve seat 19 through drive of a main valve 4 by a pressure difference between a pressure P1 at the inflow part 2a of a valve body 1 and a pressure P2 in a space 1c formed closer to a first communicating port. Especially, a subvalve chamber 9d and a first communication port 9a are formed in a cover body 9 mounted on the external opening part 21 of the main valve chamber 1a, and a second communication port 17 comprises a body port 1d formed in the valve body 1; and a cover body port 9b formed in the cover body 9 and communicated to the body port 1d. A subvalve 5 is slid in the sub valve chamber 9d of the cover body 9 to open and close the pilot hole 9c of the cover body port 1d.
