PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To very easily prepare a ring back tone peculiar for a user and to clearly distinguish it from the ring back tone of the other user by generating the ring back tone based on information peculiar for the user, when generating the ring back tone at the time of incoming from a call originating source. SOLUTION: Portable telephone equipment is provided with a characteristic information reading part 15 and an information conversion part 16 inside a control part 10. The characteristic information reading part 15 is provided for reading a telephone number (the telephone number of equipment carried with the user) stored in a memory 14, sending it to the information converting part 16, converting this telephone number into the correspondent musical scale (melody) and sounding it as the ring back tone from a sounder 11. When sounds for 10 musical scales of do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, si, do, re and mi are allocated to the information conversion part 16 corresponding to the numerical values from '0' to '9' of the telephone number, which correspond to the number of telephone carried with the user, they are converted into ring back tones of prescribed musical scale sounds.
