<p>Method determining linear position using lenticular screens in a direction perpendicular to axes of lenticules and planes of the screens comprising steps of: a) directing collimated beam of radiation perpendicularly into first sheet (2, 5, 8) of lenticular material; b) allowing beam transmitted by first sheet (2, 5, 8) to enter second sheet (3, 6, 9) of similar pitch, oriented parallel to first sheet (2, 5, 8), and with axes of lenticules parallel to axes of first sheet (2, 5, 8), and spaced so as to recollimate radiation beam upon exit from second sheet (3, 6, 9); c) placing radiation detector array (27) situated to receive collimated beam exiting from second lenticular sheet (3, 6, 9) and subtenting field-of-view of lenticules; d) sensing position of collimated beam within field-of-view of lenticules, and keeping account of number of transits/fractions thereof of beam accross center of field of view of lenticules with detector array (27), due to displacement of lenticular sheets relative to each other in direction perpendicular to axes of lenticules and in plane parallel to themselves.</p> |
