PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a latent fingerprint manifest by simple manipulation at a short time and to obtain the distinct fingerprint without environmental and hygienic problems and without the danger of inflammation. SOLUTION: This method for inspecting the latent fingerprint consists in directly bringing the latent fingerprint into contact with a soln. prepd. by dissolving ruthenium tetraoxide with perfluoromorpholine as a solvent or exposing the latent fingerprint into an atomized body or vaporized gas of this soln. This perfluoromorpholine has the nature of not dissolving mineral oil, animal and vegetable oils and, therefore, even if the specimen is immersed into the soln. having the perfluoromorpholine as solvent, the fats and oils, etc., in the fingerprint are not dissolved and consequently the shape of the fingerprint is not impaired. As a result, the more distinct black fingerprint image may be manifested. |
