PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder capable of detecting a residual quantity of ink and/or presence or absence of an ink tank irrespective of occurrence of resonance phenomenon of the recorder. SOLUTION: It is detected whether or not a carriage having an ink tank provided thereon and reciprocating and/or this recorder generates resonance phenomena on the basis of variation of an output obtained from an optical sensor including information that a residual quantity of the ink tank and/or presence or absence of the ink tank is optically detected. A moving speed of the carriage is varied in accordance with the detected result so that the occurrence of the resonance phenomena is prevented. |
