PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make formable a uniform coating film on a spool of fishing reel. SOLUTION: The objective spool 4 is provided with a reel drum 4a, flanges 4b formed on both sides of the reel drum 4a, a cylindrical boss 4d fitting to the spool shaft 10 on the inner circumferential side of the reel drum 4a and a connecting part 4c to connect the reel drum 4a and the boss 4d. The spool 4 is formed integrally with a magnesium alloy and the surface is subjected to surface-treatment and coating. The reel drum 4a, the flanges 4b and the connecting part 4c are provided respectively with through-holes 4e, 4f and 4g for coating. In the case of coating the spool 4 by spray coating, electrodeposition coating, etc., the sprayed coating material is diffused and discharged through the through-holes 4e, 4f, 4g formed on individual parts of the spool 4 to promote the formation of a uniform coating film.
