PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compound having a structure (in a three-dimensional cage-like shape) obtained by three-dimensionally closing a molecule having stability by self organization. SOLUTION: This three-dimensional cage-like transition metal complex is a compound having a ligand of 2,4,6-tris(4-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine, substantially taking a plane structure, and having three or more electron pairs capable of forming a coordination bond with a transition metal in the molecule. This complex has a three-dimensional cage-like structure with a nano scale, capable of selectively incorporating other chemical substances therein, and useful for protection of the chemical substance from the external world and performance of a selective sieving.
