<p>A system for distinguishing appliances comprises channels (5) for supplying gas to a plurality of appliances (6), an instrument (7) for measuring a propagation signal defined on the basis of the time required for an ultrasonic wave to cross the channel (5), a pattern generator (9) for generating a signal pattern based on the change in propagation signal, a pattern storage (10) for storing a plurality of signal patterns corresponding to the respective appliances (6), a pattern comparator (11) for comparing the signal patterns generated by the pattern generator (9) with the signal pattern stored in the pattern storage (10), and a section (12) for specifying the used one of the appliances (6) according to the results of comparison by the pattern comparison (11).</p> |
