IMPROVED ADHESIVE BONDING OF STRINGS OF POCKETED COIL SPRINGS

A method and system for manufacturing a spring core (10) by adhesively bonding strings (12) of pocketed coil springs (14) together utilizes a moving adhesive applicator (28) for depositing adhesive onto a moving string (12) of pocketed coil springs (14). Subsequently, individual strings (12) are adhesively bonded to similar strings (12) to form the spring core (10) of pocketed coil springs (14). The moving applicator (28) may take one of any number of various embodiments which include reciprocating movement, rotational movement, pivotal movement and/or linear translational movement for spraying a pattern of adhesive (22) onto the moving string (12) of pocketed coil springs (14).
