APPARATUS FOR CASTING RARE EARTH ELEMENT-CONTAINING ALLOY AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for casting a rare earth element-containing alloy which can obtain the uniform cooling in the thickness direction by thinning the thickness of the quenching cast to be obtained and easily exchange a cooling roll and roughly crush without oxidizing the quenching cast slab to be obtained. SOLUTION: Molten rare earth element-containing alloy is tapped onto the cooling roll 5 having 400 mm diameter and rotated frontward at 600 rpm rotating speed from a tundish 4 in 3 mm thickness to obtain the quenching cast slab having 0.1 mm thickness. The tundish 4 is disposed shiftably to the side part together with a supporting column in order to easily execute the exchange of the cooling roll 5. Further, a collision crushing surface 7 for crushing by colliding the beltlike quenching cast slab flying after detaching from the cooling roll 5, is arranged at the side wall of a vacuum chamber 1 and the quenching cast slab is coarsely crushed in a vacuum to prevent the oxidation.
