<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image data decoder that interrupts reception of image data on the occurrence of a change in a type of image and automatically setting a storage capacity of a video buffering verifier VBV in response to a size of the image. SOLUTION: The image data decoder is provided with an input control section 101 that receives coded image data and is turned on/off based on a control signal, a detection circuit 102 that detects a sequence header from decoded image data, an extract circuit 104 that extracts data relating to a type of image data from the coded image data when the circuit 102 detects the sequence header, a VBV buffer circuit 106 that stores the coded image data to a storage area, a decoding circuit 108 that decodes the decoded image data, and a control circuit 105 that controls the buffer circuit to reserve the capacity thereof based on the sequence header and prescribed data.</p> |
