<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carrier without generating the deterioration of a coat layer at the time of running a machine and without causing image stains or the like due to breaking of the resin carrier by coating the surfaces of core particles made of magnetic powder dispersed resin grains with a sol-gel film containing the polycondensation product of a metal compound to form the coat layer. SOLUTION: This carrier is composed of core particles made of magnetic powder dispersed resin grains containing the magnetic powder and a binder resin and a coat layer made of a sol-gel film containing the polycondensation product of a metal compound provided on the surfaces of the core particles As a method for forming the sol-gel film, e.g. the sol-gel film is formed by using the magnetic powder dispersed resin grains consisting of the magnetic powder and the binder resin as the core particles (carrier core particles) and depositing the polycondensation product of the metal oxide on the surfaces of the carrier core particles from the outside.
