PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent excessive deformation so as to prevent the rupture of a transparent elastic film constituting a variable focus lens even when impact force is exerted by providing a transparent and elastic excessive deformation preventing plate at least on either surface side of the transparent elastic film. SOLUTION: In a variable focus lens device constituted by integrally forming a lens part 10 and an actuator part 20; the lens part 10 is provided with the 1st and the 2nd diaphragms 11 and 12. The 1st diaphragm 11 is bonded to either surface of a 1st spacer 13 and constitutes an elastic film for pressuring. The 1st deformation preventing plate 16 is bonded to the other surface of the 1st spacer 13. The 2nd diaphragm 12 is bonded to the other surface of the plate 16 through a 2nd spacer 14 and constitutes the transparent elastic film. The 2nd deformation preventing plate 17 is bonded to the other surface of the 2nd diaphragm 12 through a 3rd spacer 15. By arranging the transparent and elastic plates 16 and 17 on both surfaces of the transparent elastic film in such a way, the rupture caused by the excessive deformation is prevented.
