REAR DUMPING DRAGLINE BUCKET

An excavator dragline bucket (10) is supported by a hoist line (38) from a dragline power unit (26), and pivots about the connection (32) of the hoist line (38) to the bucket (10). The bucket (10) is designed to dump toward the rear, and has a gate (44) that is latched in position during the loading of the bucket (10), and which will be automatically unlatched as the bucket (10) tilts rearwardly. The gate (44) is connected through a double pivoting bellcrank (48) that is operated by control links (54, 56) connected to a hoist chain (30) such that as the angle between the bucket (10) and the hoist chain (30) changes, the control link (54, 56) loads the double pivoting bellcrank (48) and releases the latch (42). When the bucket (10) has been dumped and is returned to its horizontal position, the tailgate (44) first moves against the rear edges of the bucket (10), and subsequently the double pivoting bellcrank (48) permits the tailgate (44) to slide along its plane to a latched position.
