The invention relates to a member LYC3 of a novel lysozymes gene family. The invention provides the cDNA sequence encoding for the novel lysozyme, the polypeptide encoded by the sequence, as well as the method producing said novel human lysozyme utilising recombinant technology. The invention also provides the use of the novel human lysozyme.
