PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop the descending position of a cloth presser at a position higher than other needle bars by disposing a stopper formed at a freely transversely movable holding frame near to the prescribed needle bar among the plural needle bars supported at the holding frame and providing the cloth presser with a pad part in contact with the stopper at the time of descending. SOLUTION: When a lifting rod 2 is vertically moved via a lifting mechanism 4 by turning of a spindle 3 and a lifting body 5 is moved downward, the needle bar 7 of which a depressing part 23 is engaged with the engaging part 51 of the lifting body 5 among the plural needle bars is moved downward. At this time, the cloth presser 25 is depressed via a spring 32 and the pad part 34 disposed at the cloth presser 25 is pressed to the stopper 33 via a buffer body 35. A presser part 26a of the cloth presser 25 presses the cloth in this state to prevent the floating up thereof and since the pad part 34 is accepted by the stopper 33, the problem that the pressure part 26a excessively presses the cloth and damages the cloth is averted. The needle 8 is pricked through the cloth by the subsequent downward movement of the needle bar 7, by which required sewing is executed.
