摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a twin type fullerene C121 molecule having electronic properties identical or similar to those of C60 and present stably by providing a structure obtd. by combining C60 molecules by way of only one carbon atom. SOLUTION: The twin type fullerene C121 molecule is a high level fullerene molecule having an electron structure closest to that of C60 from similarity in curvature, maintains C60 cage as it is and is similar in various spectrally electronic properties to C60. The twin type fullerene C121 molecule may be synthesized as follows; another carbon atom as a methylene group is added to a bond of adjacent carbon-carbon atoms on the skeleton of a C60 molecule to form a carbon 3-membered ring structure and a methano-fullerene analogue having this structure is allowed to react with C60 at a high temp. Sulfonium ylide having a reaction active group may be used when the carbon atom is added.
