PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition accelerating a tyrosinase activity bearing an essential roll of melanin generation in the hair by including an extract of Zanthoxylum piperitum, an osmosis accelerator and a bloodstream accelerator. SOLUTION: This composition contains (A) an extract of Zanthoxylum piperitum (L.)DC [an extract from Zanthoxylum piperitum belonging to the genus Zanthoxylum, family Rutaceae], (B) an osmosis accelerator, preferably an amine oxide of the formula: R1R2R3NO (R1 to R3 are each a 1-25C alkyl) (e.g. dimethylamine oxide of the formula), or the like, and/or (C) a bloodstream accelerator, e.g. nicotinic acids, minoxidils, an extract of Swertia japonica, cepharanthine, vitamin-Es,γ-oryzanol, an alkoxycarbonylpyridine N-oxide, capronium chloride or acetylcholines. In the composition, preferably 0.0001-10.0 wt.% of the component A, 0.0001-20.0 wt.% of the component B and 0.001-5.0 wt.% of the component C are contained.
