WATER-INSOLUBLE NONIONIC GRAFT COPOLYMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-insoluble nonionic graft copolymer capable of providing excellent resistances to fouling, abrasion or washing when used in a water-based coating composition, especially an ink composition. SOLUTION: This graft copolymer contains a hydrophobic main chain and a nonionic hydrophilic side chain in which the side chain has at least 500 number-average molecular weight. Although substantially insoluble in water the graft copolymer is soluble in an aqueous vehicle containing <=80 wt.% of water and at least one organic cosolvent.
