PURPOSE: An oil separator is provided to prevent the compressor oil from being discharged out of the compressor. CONSTITUTION: The oil separator comprises; a casing(61,81) having an inlet port through which a mixed fluid of coolant and oil flows in; a separating wall(62,82) installed in the casing to form a spiral passage through which the mixed fluid is transported. In the upper part of the spiral passage a coolant outlet port is formed and in the lower part an outlet port is formed. At the coolant outlet port a filtration mesh is installed to filter oil. By enhancing the reliability of the oil separation rate stabilized operation of the compressor is guaranteed and by minimizing a pressure drop in the oil separator the efficiency of the total system can be improved.
